It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Terrance Michael Butryn, lovingly known as "Butsy," on September 7th, 2024. Terry's journey ended after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, but his spirit remains ever-present in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Terry is survived by his beloved wife, Terry Nason, affectionately known as "the other Terry," and three daughters, Krystal Nason (Josh Kohler), Shawna Nason, and Nicollette Barber (Jake Barber). He was the proud and adoring “Papa T” to his grandchildren Zoey and Evelyn Kohler, and Ava-Rose and Jackson Terrance Barber, who will forever cherish his memory and hold him close in their hearts.
He is also survived by his nephew and godson Michael Konkle, brother-in-law Jim Konkle, uncle James Sawka, and cousins Rick Sawka, Lorie (Jim) Oblak, Carol (Neil) Matthews, and Marianne (Cesare) Marchese.
Born in Beamsville, Ontario, on April 10th, 1965, Butsy lived a life filled with joy, laughter, and love for his family and friends. Terry was an avid runner and a former NCAA hockey player. He embodied strength and perseverance in all aspects of his life. His passion for WWII history and Navy SEALs reflected his admiration for courage and heroism. To his family, Terry was their own Navy SEAL—always brave, always protecting them with love and strength.
Terry now joins his mother Helen, father Cec, and sister Kathy in heaven, as well as his predeceased uncle Walter (and Mary) Sawka, aunt Stella Sawka, and cousin Robert Sawka. His family takes comfort in knowing he is at peace, surrounded by the same love that enveloped him in his final months, days, and moments.
Terry's spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Rest in peace, Butsy. You will be deeply missed.
