Hello,
I am excited to share that I completed the 7 Days in May fundraising ride in support of Pancreatic Cancer. 7 Days in May is a one of a kind, 1,100 km cycling event to increase awareness about pancreatic cancer and raise much needed funds to help improve the rate of survival. This cause really hits home for me because, amongst the people I have known with Pancreatic Cancer, our dear friend Arnold van den Hoeven, to whom we dedicated last year's ride, is not only beating the disease but was able to ride with us this year!
Did you know that the survival rate for pancreatic cancer is just 10%? That means 90% of those diagnosed will die within 5 years and 70% of patients will die within one year of diagnosis. These survival rates have not improved in the last 40 years – it’s time to change those statistics. The technology is at our finger tips so the nudge we are providing can tip the balance and change the fate of so many. To date, 7 Days has raised over $1.9 million to help fund groundbreaking research and support programs for patients and their families. It is only through the support of donors like you that we can make a difference!
It was a life changing experience that included grueling challenges, amazing support, and an enthusiastic and supportive group of riders. Thanks to your generosity, we not only exceeded our goal of $7,500 but we are currently above $8,200! Please continue to give. Your support helps those afflicted with Pancreatic Cancer by driving badly needed research that has the potential to change the trajectory of this terrible disease.https://secure.pancreaticcancercanada.ca/site/TR/Events/7DaysinMay?px=1248981&pg=personal&fr_id=1651
