Welcome to Jennifer Ferris' Personal Page
Just over twenty one years ago, my Mom, Su Butterworth was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. In the short months that followed, I got to spend time with my Mom both in and out of the hospital, as she struggled with this horrible disease. As awful as the prognosis was, we still found time to chat and laugh together. We watched movies, did crafts or played games. I would paint her nails and do her hair. When she was tired, we would sit quietly and sometimes I just watched her sleep. I am grateful that I got to spend time with her, but I wish there had been more time. My Mom was resilient, brave, loving, calm and accepting.
Last year, I took part in the 7 Days ride to celebrate and honour my Mom's legacy. Thankfully, I got to share the experience with my brother, Nathan, and it was amazing to be able to spend quality time with him for a whole week! Thank you to everyone who sponsored my ride last year, and to all those who supported me emotionally.
Last year's ride was so much more than I was expecting. At first it was daunting and I had to come up with a game plan for training and preparation. It was physically demanding every day. It was uncomfortable, especially depending on the weather conditions. It was emotional as everyday started with someone sharing their story about "why they ride". It was mentally challenging. It was rewarding, and it was exhilarating. The group of riders, organizers and volunteers were nothing short of amazing and I am so glad I got to be a part of it. I loved it, and I plan to do it again this year, so I'm hoping I can count on your support once more.

I am well into my training, and am looking forward to warmer days ahead where I can get my bike back on the road! May each day of the ride feel like my brother and I are out for a bike ride (just like when we were kids), and let me have a smile on my face at the top of every climb!
