For you always, mom.
I am honoured and excited to be a part of this wonderful event again this year., my 6th! I was gearing up to ride the full 7 days this year (1100km), but due to a knee injury, will need to wait until 2026. I look forward to being a part of the volunteer crew this year and continuing to raise awareness & funds for this cause.
My dear mom, Marina, was diagnosed in July of 2018. 4 years have gone by since her passing and not a day goes by without missing her. She battled a challenging fight courageously and left us peacefully with grace and surrounded by love.
Prior to her passing, I let her know I would dedicate my life to continuing to raise awareness & funds for cancer research, more specifically pancreatic cancer. She loved this organization and was so grateful to everyone who supported the cause in any way they could.
Pancreatic Cancer remains the deadliest of the major cancers. The good news is that the survival rate has increased in recent years and with the focus of the Pancreatic Cancer Canada Foundation, we are optimistic that the survival rate will continue to increase!
To continue our family tradition as well, Sloan (12) & Xavier (9 1/2) will participate in their 5th annual "Jr." 7 Days in May, riding their bikes for 7 consecutive days with me. I'm gearing up my physio to be able to accomplish this with them. They too, thank you for your donations, support & love.
7 Days in May riders, fund their own rides and we will direct 100% of ALL donations to Pancreatic Cancer Canada. All proceeds will be directed towards clinical trials and other direct studies, focused on early detection and a cure as well as providing support and education for those impacted by the disease.
This year, we ride in & out of the beautiful city of Guelph. Hope to see you there (or en-route) cheering us on!! Check out the 7 Days in May website for details and view our route!
Riding or not, I will continue this journey for my mom, and for countless of others who have lost their loved ones to pancreatic cancer. In our lifetime, we will be able to #EndPanCan with your continued help.
Ride on. Stay safe. Much love always, Mia
